Yesterday, I met a young chap working in Canada. He came to Canada from India 4 years back, got his basic education in Canada and now, at the age of 23 is already making decent money (more than 60 grand a year), while being employed in an administrative job.
This made me realize that in Canada, education and professional licensure is everything. It does not matter if you if you were a brain surgeon or a rocket scientist in your home country. But if you do not have relevant education in Canada or a relevant professional licensure, good luck, buddy / missy ! You will end us as a security guard or a burger flipper or a cab driver.
If you want to do well for yourself in Canada, get yourself a Canadian education and all doors shall open for ya :) Just my thought.
This blog documents my MBA student life at Ryerson University, Canada (2010-2012). It was an attempt to demystify the MBA experience, help understand MBA topics & encourage MBA wannabes. I have a Pre-MBA blog about B-School application process (and a few other blogs) as well. I used to blog actively in the past and interact with readers regularly, but life got very busy after my MBA. Good luck. Take care. Cheers! Gerry.

How am I doing?" - This is a very useful question !
"How am I doing?" - These 4 words can help you pass the course!
Recently, a classmate of mine told me that after every 2 class or after every assignment, he goes to the Professor and asks him this question "How am I doing?". I realized that this is so important. Keeping in touch with your Professor and getting constant feedback from the Prof. helps to understand where you stand and how you are performing with regards to the subject. This shall avoid surprise (low) grades, will help you avoid the embarassment of being caught unaware of poor grades from the Prof. And trust me, these things happen. I do not think any student ever feels that he / she has gotten the grades that he / she deserves. This conflict can perhaps be avoided or reduced by interacting with your Prof. on a regular basis and requesting for tips to improve in the subject!

Trying to speak the language of Economists: This was my recent Facebook post. Trying to have fun with new words :)
Opportunity Cost exists for learning Economics ♥, but due to Invisible Hand in the Free Market, Demand was met with Supply of Resources - Labour, Lost Revenue & Time. Equilibrium attained. Cost-Benefit analysis done & Trade-off made to maximize Future Growth in the Production Possibility Curve with Capital Good of Education for higher Standard of Living & Employment. Optimal use of Scare resources being the goal. :P
