About MB8903: Language & Cultural training

My understanding is that one is allowed to learn a new language by enrolling in a language training institution and after a period of ___ months, demonstrating that the training was completed.

Additionally, a small research paper has to be submitted. Will post details soon.

Choice in MBA course electives creates confusion!

When it came to finalizing course electives, I changed my mind a few times before finalizing on my electives. And I thought that I was being silly.... until I found out that a lor of my classmates made changes to their elective courses many more times than me :)))

Choice creates confusion. And I have no disrespect for people who change their minds. I just call it Dynamic thinking - constant evaluation and re-evaluation of priorities and making new decisions based on the latest information, situation and experiences each time :)))

My short term academic goal: MBA + CAPM + CPIM. Next: PMP + CMC. Next: ??? :))) Ultimate objective ---> Management Consulting.

My immediate goal ---> complete MBA (Enough, already! Just want to get this over with :)

Short term goals:
  • Get CAPM certification ASAP
  • Get CPIM certification
  • Learn French
  • Learn about Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, TPS, BPR
  • Show my prowess in the world of Management Consulting. Perform well on some projects.
Next goals:
  • Get PMP certification
  • Get CMC certification
After that:
  • Continue to do well in the field of consulting
  • Pick up additional certifications?
  • I am not sure about CMA, though I would love to have one under my belt :)
I have decided that I shall spend the next year or 2 pursuing certifications as much as possible. This shall be a priority over working for myself or for some other company. There is the story of the bucket and the pipeline. I am going to build a pipeline and NOT be a bucket carrier :)

The ultimate objective of all this training is to become an excellent Management Consultant and offer exceptional value to my clients.

Operations Management book

Here is a good book to study about Operations Management:

OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT: Process & Supply chains. 9th Edition.
By Krajewski, Ritzman & Malhotra.
Published by Pearson, Prentice Hall.

I never sell my MBA text books after the term.

A lot of people I know sell their text books after they complete the term. But I do not have that habit. Yes, the books depreciate in monetary value with time, but knowledgewise, they are priceless and never lose value for me!

My books become a part of me and stay with me. I do try to go back to my books and read them from time to time. After all, Business is an adopted field for me, my original field being Medicine. I have to constantly keep referring to them and refresh my basics and build on what I already know...

And before you contact me to lend me my book, I do not lend my books either. My books are my babies and you do not share your babies :)

Jim Rohn quotes

Jim Rohn has some of the amazing quotes. Here are a few:

  • Don't just let your business or your job make something FOR you, let it make something OF you!
