Just saw "Margin Call" (the movie). My reactions & interpretation:

  • Number crunching (Quantitative Analysis) may be a PITA (Pain In The Arse), but it is MITB (Money In The Bank). If you can crunch numbers, people will seek you.
  •   Be decisive. Be quick to get in and quick to get out - timing is everything.
  •   No one is indispensable in a company. No one.
  •   Somebody's loss is someone's gain. Money shifts, doesn't "disappear".
  •   Wish I could turn back time to the pre-recession era --> where a 23 year old risk analyst could make a quarter million $ a year. Wish I could go to THAT life!
