Shape your destiny by making yourself capable and strong

"Khudi ko kar buland itna,

Ke har taqdir se pehle,

Khuda bande se ye pooche,

Bata teri raza kya hai?"

This is an Urdu couplet by the Urdu and Farsi poet Muhammad Iqbal (1877-1938).

Rough English translation:

"Make yourself so strong and fit,

That before writing your destiny,

God himself asks you,

Tell me, what is your opinion on this?"
