A website is the resume of a business or organization.

Here is an original quote by me: "A website is the resume of a business or organization" . A business is also a type of organization, but not all businesses are organizations (some are sole proprieterships, eh? ;).

The internet is a couple of decades old now, but the general public has had access to it only for 1 or 2 decades. I am talking about the general masses. Check out the internet adoption graph below from this link: http://bgr.com/2012/04/16/one-in-five-u-s-adults-still-doesnt-use-the-internet/

Of course, there have been early adopters and there have been late bloomers. Perhaps the younger generation adopted first. Perhaps those in and near the silicon vallies of the world (Bay area, California, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Gurgaon / Noida in India, New York state, UK, parts of Europe) adopted first. But even today, there are people who are not internet savvy. A lot of small businesses today do not have their ownsites yet. Check out some useful graphs below:

World internet penetration rates:

Number of internet users in different parts of the world

(Remember: PENETRATION RATE IS NOT THE SAME AS THE NUMBER OF INTERNET USERS. PENETRATION IS THE RATIO OF USERS IN EACH REGION TO THE TOTAL POPULATION IN THAT REGION, WHILE THE NUMBER OF USERS DENOTES SIMPLY THAT - A TOTAL NUMBER. THUS, PENETRATION IS A RATIO OR A PERCENTAGE, WHILE NUMBER IS NOT A RATIO )

A lot of big businesses / organizations have not yet fully invested in their websites / have not reached their peak potential yet (my own school being one of them). Only God knows why. A good website can lead to significant increase in sales.
Growth in sales

Yet, there are people who live in their own dream world, oblivious to the significance of the internet and the online world. Ignorance is bliss, and a closed group or closed club can lead to ignorant bliss. Open the doors and windows, people. Check out what is going on in the real world. Enough of those closed door meetings and closed mindset. Time for breaths of fresh air.

Living in a dream world: Ignorance is bliss

Get smart, dear business or organization. Get internet savvy. Your website needs as much attention as your wife or your child or your resume. And I repeat my quote again "A website is the resume of a business or organization". Don't be left with an Oops or poops at the end of the day, and wonder what went wrong, ha ha ;)
