This blog documents my MBA student life at Ryerson University, Canada (2010-2012). It was an attempt to demystify the MBA experience, help understand MBA topics & encourage MBA wannabes. I have a Pre-MBA blog about B-School application process (and a few other blogs) as well. I used to blog actively in the past and interact with readers regularly, but life got very busy after my MBA. Good luck. Take care. Cheers! Gerry.

Google playing Modern Day Robinhood?
One one hand, Google is accused of evading taxes (Check out the Forbes article: "Is Google avoiding or evading taxes in the UK?". Link here). On the other hand, Google does charity work (Google Global Impact donated $23 million recently. Link here).
Google playing Modern Day Robinhood?
Another way to look at this scenario is this:
Corporations are EXPECTED to do charitable work and implement CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives. It helps build a good brand image as a caring corporation - a good corporate citizen. So, while the strategists recommend charitable activities, the accountants and financial analysts / controllers are hard at work at saving money for the corporation by minimizing taxes - in a legal manner.
This way, the public is happy and the company gets a good name. The government is miffed. But who cares? LOL.
Cheers,
Gerry.
