Certificate in Investment Performance Measurement (CIPM) Program Overview
The CIPM program develops and tests the performance evaluation and presentation expertise of investment professionals.

How Do You Earn a CIPM Certificate?
The two-level CIPM program is based on a self-directed curriculum that allows candidates to study and earn the credential while staying fully employed. To earn the certificate, a candidate must enroll and pass two exams, become a regular member of the CIPM Association, and meet professional experience requirements. There are two exam periods per year, so it is possible to complete the program in one year.

Get started in the CIPM program.

CIPM Exams
Both the Principles and the Expert exams test the following concepts:
  • Ethical and professional standards
  • Performance measurement, attribution, and appraisal
  • The Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS)
The Principles level emphasizes the conceptual foundations of performance measurement, attribution, and appraisal as well as the provisions of the GIPS standards. The Expert level emphasizes performance evaluation and presentation, including application of the appropriate tools and inputs in more complex situations and the GIPS Guidance Statements.

CFA Program Eligibility Requirements. In other words, CFA Level 1 & CFA Level 2 requirements.

CFPA Program Entrance Requirements are as below (As an MBA student, you are automatically eligible for CFA Level 1 & Level 2 exams, since you have already completed your UG degree).

For CFA Level 1:
  • Have a bachelor's (or equivalent) degree
  • Or be in the final year of your bachelor's degree program at the time of registration
  • Or have four years of professional work experience (does not have to be investment related)
  • Or have a combination of professional work and college experience that totals at least four years. Part-time positions do not qualify, and the four-year total must be accrued prior to enrollment.
For CFA Level 2:

If you initially enroll/register as a final year undergraduate student with a degree in progress, you may not register for the Level II exam until you have earned your degree, or obtained professional work experience that meets the program’s entrance requirements. At the time your degree is awarded, you may update your account education information to certify that your degree has been received.
